Hello all,
My name is Michael, and I was born and raised in South Louisiana, a culture known for food, music, the arts, fun…food. Did I mention food? Anyway, I have always been interested in the arts, mostly drawn to music and any sort of performance art that I could get my hands on.
However, when I was 20 my life shifted. My grandmother, who was my everything, passed away from cancer. “What am I going to do now?” seemed to be the running line in my head. Shortly after, I remembered our last conversation. It’s interesting how in times of trauma we block out everything and just focus on what life has thrown at us in that instant. In that last conversation I had with my grandmother, she imparted one final slice of wisdom. “Buddy, you have to do what makes you happy. Even if that means moving across the world.”
At the time I swore it was chemo brain, but reflecting on a drive to school it hit me. I need to be happy. So, I drove to school, dropped out, and for a year saved to move to Los Angeles. Once there, I enjoyed the ride of my life for 8 years, working and living in the film industry. (More on that later. Dun dun dun)
So now, I’m here writing on the internet. Much like my two favorite rom-com characters, Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox from You’ve Got Mail. The single most important rom-com to ever grace us. In my humble opinion, of course.
Now, sit back with some popcorn and let’s take a journey through movies and the stories that shape our lives.
NY152…aka Michael
