Happy first day of Fall, y’all! We are officially in my favorite months…the ber months. That means pumpkin everything – which does kill my soul a little bit whatever – sweaters, cooler weather (sans the South), leaves changing colors, getting dark earlier…snuggles.
Speaking of snuggles…Fall is the perfect time to watch a good rom-com. Pour a glass of Malbec, pop some caramel popcorn and sit back and fall in love. Here are my top five favorite rom-coms for fall!
5. Autumn in New York

Year: 2000
Stars: Richard Gere and Winona Ryder
Fav. Quote: Will: You think I’m too old for you?
Charlotte: Oh, no… I collect antiques, or I aspire to.
Will: Ouch.
This is a sweet little movie set in New York. It’s got all the feels – leaves falling, love, Richard Gere, New York in the fall. If you’re a Prime member add it to your list and when you’re alone with that special someone, fall in love again.
4. Dan In Real Life

Year: 2007
Stars: Steve Carell & Juliette Binoche
Fav. Quote: Dan Burns: You know that feeling in your heart? When your heart is just pounding, like it’s actually outside your ribs. Exposed, vulnerable, but wonderful and awful, and heartsick, and alive, all at the same time?
Ok seriously the first time I watched this movie it made me want to be in New England every. single. fall. The scenery is breathtaking and the meet cute is the best. Boy and girl in bookshop, girl mistakes boy for bookshop worker. Boy puts on the charm with girl and suggests a book – it’s f***ing adorable. Rent it on Prime. Like now.
3. St. Elmo’s Fire

Year: 1985
Stars: Everyone from the 80’s
Fav. Quote: Kirby: There are several quintessential moments in a man’s life: losing his virginity, getting married, becoming a father, and having the right girl smile at you.
UGH!!! And having the right girl smile at you!! Dear Lord this is classic 80’s – and I’m here for it. Literally…you can’t go wrong with D.C. in the fall, chunky sweaters, riding around with the top down – and that soundtrack! Watch it right now and be nostalgic…
2. When Harry Met Sally…

Year: 1989
Stars: Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal
Fav. Quote: Harry Burns: I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
You thought my fav. quote was “I’ll have what she’s having.” didn’t you! People – there are zero…and I mean ZERO reasons to not not watch this movie! Meg Ryan. Billy Crystal. Nora Ephron (my idol). Rob Reiner. New York…in the Fall. The soundtrack. Literally this film is amazing. If it’s not part of your dvd collection – is that still a thing in 2019 – then make it part of your dvd collection – stat!
1. You’ve Got Mail

Year: 1998
Stars: Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks
Fav. Quote: Joe Fox: Don’t cry, Shopgirl. Don’t cry.
Kathleen Kelly: I wanted it to be you. I wanted it to be you so badly.
I refuse to sit here and babble about my favorite. movie. of. all. time. But if you haven’t seen it we can no longer be friends because you simply can not go through life without seeing this movie. It’s perfect. Put it at the top of your list to watch. Even if your alone on a Saturday night – crawl under the covers with a bottle of Malbec and popcorn and tissue. There is love out there for you and this movie makes you believe it. Hand to God!
As always, thanks for reading! Let. me know in the comments what your favorite Fall rom-com is.
